Different Types of Flowers
A flower is the reproductive system found in a flowering plant. They provide the space for the male segments of the flower to fertilize the female segments of the flowers. For this reason, it is actually quite appropriate for flowers to be given to a love interest in order to attract attention. This is also why flowers are so brightly colored and attractive. They need to attract agents that will pollinate the blossoms—typically those are bees. As a result of these facts, there are many, many different types of flowers. Some are big, some are small, and there is a wide range of colors, from a light white to a deep purple.
Because of the long tradition of picking and giving flowers, different types of flowers have different symbolism attached. Roses are the most widely recognized as symbols of love. Every year, men send women long stem roses on anniversaries, birthdays, and of course, Valentine’s Day. Even the colors of the roses take on a level of symbolism. Roses can also be used for funerals, but generally, lilies, carnations, and daisies are also appropriate. Lilies are often seen at weddings, as well.
Not all flowers are loved equally by all people. Some people might find different types of flowers more attractive than other types. If you plan to give flowers as a gift, it is always more touching if you are aware of the giftee’s favorite. Anybody can buy another person a rose, but it means more if you know that the object of your affection truly loves pink roses, or white roses, or a combination of different colors. You can get even more brownie points if you know that the person does not love roses at all, but prefers yellow incarnations every time.
